JOB DESCRIPTION: Review Appraiser

Job Summary

Allonhill is seeking a review appraiser that will work out of our Denver office.   This person must be a self-motivated, articulate, organized individual who has proven appraisal and technical skills.   The Staff Appraiser must be a reliable and professional representative of Allonhill and ensure maximum quality is achieved under tight timelines.

 

Major Responsibilities/Activities

  • Review and analyze formal reports and supporting documentation prepared by internal and or external appraisers, primarily on 1-4 family residential properties.
  • Assess the validity and accuracy of third party valuations such as Corelogic’s History Pro or Interthinx’s Val Verify.
  • Apply uniform standards of professional appraisal practices with regard to objectivity, integrity, independent judgment, confidentiality, and ethical conduct.
  • Assess accuracy, adequacy, and compliance of valuations with applicable industry standards, GSE policy and procedure, and regulatory requirements.
  • Apply proper application of valuation methods and techniques to residential properties.
  • Provide written analysis of value discrepancies between original appraisal and subsequent valuations.
  • Identify and assess any suspected misrepresentation or fraud in property valuation.
  • Participate in ongoing Allonhill training and enhancement activities.
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Windows-based computer applications including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to function independently with minimal supervision in a high production environment.

Education and Experience

  • Associate degree or high school diploma plus 6 years appraisal experience required; bachelor’s degree a plus.
  • Minimum of 6 years experience as an appraiser, including experience as a staff appraiser within the past year.
  • Formal Real Estate Appraisal education and state appraisal certification required.
  • National experience is a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of appraisal standards and techniques for appraising 1-4 residential units. 
  • Experience performing desk reviews.
